Presented in Turckheim (Alsace) in 2004, with a considerable success, the exhibition "Ciel d'Alsace 44-45" will be on display on the aerodrome during the Airshow Haguenau, 18 th – 19 th June 2005.
Over 30 large-sized historical photos will be hung, with views of airplanes in flight or on the ground and aerial shots of bombing raids and airplane crashes. Dummies wearing fighters and bombers pilots outfits (American, English, German and French) will also be on display
.
The visitor will discover panels showing the insignia of the Squadrons operating in Alsace in 1944-1945, airplane models and parts found on crash sites, among which wing parts, landing gear legs, engines (Messerschmitt 109, Focke-Wulfe 190), Spitfire cannons and machine-guns, parts of Thunderbolt P47, Lancaster, B24. Visitors will have an occasion to go through the terrible unfolding of these combats history, which lasted several months and took over 8.000 French lives and wounded 25.000 soldiers of the 1 st French Army.
