I need to replace our old driveway and I’m lost between three main options: concrete, asphalt, or interlocking pavers. Each contractor gives a different opinion. I’d love to hear from real homeowners about which surface has worked best for them long term.

You’re not the only one confused by all the contractor opinions. Each one pushes their preferred material.

It took us a while to land on a decision since every option seemed to have hidden pros and cons https://oakshs.ca/interlock-vs-concrete-vs-asphalt-driveways-comparison/ made it easier to compare all three materials head-to-head. What surprised me most was how much more durable interlock can be over time, especially in freeze-thaw cycles. Asphalt was cheapest up front, but several neighbors had it crack and crumble within a few years. Concrete felt like a mid-tier option, but the risk of permanent cracks scared us off. Interlock was pricier but offered repair flexibility and looked stunning. We’ve had it for almost three years now, and it still turns heads. Maintenance has been minimal and we’ve had zero drainage issues.
