Washington suspends nearly 60 percent of subway services after faults that could derail trains
On Oct. 18, ReutersSLOTXOreported that nearly 60 percent of Washington County Transportation's rail system was banned by WMATA after a bug similar to last week's derailment was detected.

WMATS, the agency serving the Washington, D.C. subway system and parts of Maryland and Virginia, said: “If the train in question is taken away Tomorrow there will be only 40 trains, enough to run the subway on all routes, leaving every 30 minutes.”


Schedules like this may result in delays during peak hours. and on the same day Schools in Washington told students on Twitter to be prepared for delayed trains to and from school.

The partial suspension of trains is the result of an ongoing investigation by the National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) during the WMATA Blue Line train derailment between Roslyn and Arlington Cemetery stations on Oct. 12.



Washington's Rail Safety Board said on Oct. 17 it had ordered the move of 7000 trains by 5:00 a.m. on Oct. 18 after the NTSB found safety concerns that relevant with wheel spacing on the rail axle model 7000"
