Covid in Wales: How many deaths have there been?

A further 13 people have slotxo died with coronavirus, according to the latest Public Health Wales
(PHW) figures.

It takes the total number of Covid-related deaths reported by PHW to 5,366 since the beginning of the pandemic.

A further 267 cases were also reported on Thursday, as Wales' overall case rate fell again to 57 for every 100,000
people.

PHW said three deaths were removed from the figures due to Hywel Dda health board's "clinical validation work".

The figures on Thursday were readjusted accordingly.

Almost a million people have now received a vaccine dose in Wales, with 139,445 of those receiving their second
jab.


Where were the new reported deaths?
The most deaths were seen in the Betsi Cadwaladr health board area, with six new deaths.

Five were reported in Hywel Dda, which has had a total of 460.The Cardiff and Vale and the Anuerin Bevan health
board area, which covers south-east Wales, both reported one death each.


What is the Covid case rate in Wales?
The data from PHW shows Wales has a current case rate of 53 per 100,000 people over the latest seven-day
period, dropping from 57.

The local authority with the highest case rate in Wales is currently Gwynedd with 94.7 cases per 100,000 people.

This is followed by Anglesey (65.7) and Torfaen (63.9).

The lowest case rates are in Rhondda Cynon Taf (31.5), Pembrokeshire (21.5) and Ceredigion (20.6).
